What is Jikiden Reiki?
Jikiden Reiki ("Direct Teaching" Reiki) is original, authentic traditional Japanese Reiki, free of Western influence. Some aspects unique to Jikiden Reiki include:
The Lineage
Chiyoko Yamaguchi Sensei was taught directly by Dr Chujiro Hayashi Sensei (who, himself, was a student of Usui Sensei). Chiyoko Sensei, in turn, taught her son, Tadao Yamaguchi Sensei. Together, they founded the International Jikiden Reiki Institute in Japan.
Tadao Yamaguchi Sensei wrote a book, “Light on the Origins of Reiki” and I highly recommend it if you would like to learn more about Reiki, and Jikiden Reiki in particular, including its history, cultural background, and practice.

Byosen
Byosen is a Japanese word that is only found in relation to Reiki. It was first coined by Usui Sensei, and is used to describe the accumulation and blockage of toxins in a part of the body. This blockage can be detected and dissolved, and is a technique taught in Jikiden Reiki. Depending on the intensity of the byosen, sometimes several treatments are required to completely dissolve it.
Ketsueki Kokan Ho
Kekko (for short) is a rigorous massage that increases circulation in the body and helps with detoxing at the end of a treatment. This technique can therefore help to minimise the possibility of a healing crisis.
